Fake IDs are becoming more sophisticated and more difficult to detect by the naked eye. Websites like “ID Chief” claim that these false IDs will be undetectable, even when inspected with UV light sources. However, law enforcement, clubs, bars, college campuses, and doormen have a new advanced ID tool. This electronic system reads driver’s licenses and Registry ID cards to confirm that the documents are authentic and that the person using the ID is 21 years of age or older. The system uses hidden security features to confirm authenticity.

In Massachusetts, using a fake ID will result in a minimum 6 month license revocation and purchasing one of these false licenses or identification cards is generally a bad idea. If you receive a letter from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor of Vehicles accusing you of using a false license or RMV identification card, you have the right to be represented by a lawyer at your Registry hearing or your Board of Appeal hearing. You may be able to get a hardship license or have the false license suspension appeal vacated completely.
