Attorney Brian E. Simoneau has been practicing law in Massachusetts since 2001. He is admitted in both Massachusetts State Courts and the United States District Court for the First District of Massachusetts. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Attorney Simoneau worked as a police officer, where he investigated accidents, issued traffic citations, and made arrests for motor vehicle violations and crimes such as operating under the influence of alcohol. He worked closely with the Enforcement Services Division of the Registry of Motor Vehicles to investigate license fraud cases. As a police officer, Attorney Simoneau was certified as a traffic radar operator and infrared breath test operator. He was also certified to administer standardized DUI field sobriety tests based on the course developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Attorney Simoneau is a co-author of Obtaining, Losing, and Seeking Reinstatement of Driver’s Licenses. This is the book that other lawyers use to learn how to appeal license suspensions and obtain hardship licenses for their clients. When you retain Attorney Simoneau to represent you, you’re hiring the guy who literally wrote the book on driver’s license law.

Attorney Simoneau regularly appears before the Driver Control Unit of the Registry of Motor Vehicles, RMV Hearings Officers, the Division of Insurance Board of Appeal, and District, Superior, and Appellate Courts throughout Massachusetts. He was honored and privileged to have asked to write the amicus brief in the case of Souza v. Registrar of Motor Vehicles, wherein the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the Registry of Motor Vehicles had improperly suspended the licenses of thousands of drivers for having refused to submit to breathalyzer tests.

In cases involving Massachusetts license suspensions and revocations, Attorney Simoneau has overturned suspensions, obtained hardship licenses, and achieved many noteworthy victories at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Board of Appeal, in District Courts, and in Massachusetts Superior Courts located in Worcester, Middlesex, and Suffolk Counties. Through his legal work and track record, he has established himself as a statewide expert on license suspensions and reinstatements. He routinely consults with and assists other lawyers with license suspension cases.
