Police File Immediate Threat Medical Complaint Against Driver

Massachusetts Registry News

Braintree Police recently filed an Immediate Threat Medical Complaint against a 54 year old Braintree resident after his vehicle struck some trees at the Braintree 5 corners shopping center.

According to the Patriot Ledger, the driver was travelling at a high rate of speed. He struck a curb, and telephone pole, prior to the vehicle landing on its roof. Braintree police reported that the driver suffered from a medical condition, which may have caused the crash. Police will charge the driver with negligent operation. If he’s convicted, the Registry will suspend his license for at least 60 days, up to one year.

In cases such as this, the police file a Complaint Immediate Threat Medical with the Driver Control Unit of the Mass. Registry of Motor Vehicles.  In order to clear this suspension, the driver will have to produce medical evidence showing that he’s safe to operate and that he will not endanger the public if the Registry returns his driver’s license.

Since he has criminal charges pending, the Registry will likely decline to consider any license reinstatement until the criminal case is resolved.
